WATERFALLS CANYON 3/13/11

The large NE cirque on Eagles Rest in the background, taken from peak 10,686

Another trip to the Northern Park. I had skied 10, 686 last year and was going through all my photos and really saw the potential of the area. There was a really bad crust everywhere except north facing, so we really needed to chose our line wisely. Jay, Phil and I decided on the NE Cirque of Eagles Rest Peak. The day started with a 3 mile crossing of Jackson Lake and into Waterfalls Canyon.

The day started cloudy, and gradually cleared as we climbed higher into the cirque. The skiing potential was immense.

The canyon lives up to its name

As we started skinning up the cirque we realized how good the snow was.

Just another couloir in the Tetons

I enjoy it too

There is no “y” in Jason. It’s just “J”

There is no y in Jason but there sure is a “rain delay” in that guys name.

True, many delayed openings to speak of. To his credit, on time even with a 4:30 am bout with jalepeno coated fingers and contact lens insertion. Nice work “J” !
